Our family Vacation this year was to Goblin Valley in Central Utah. It is a very remote state park that is hidden from view until you are right next to it. You can climb, jump, run, and explore for hours on end. This was the perfect spot for my adventurous crew!!! The only restrictions they had were to not get too close to the edge and stay close to us.
Next we went to Little Wild Horse slot canyon. The hike was a total of 3 miles. The kids did really well for walking so much. They ran and explored the narrow corridors and didn't get tired until we were on our way out. Ethan liked feeling the walls as he went through. He had to be strapped in everywhere we went even though he is starting to walk now. What a trooper!
The most memorable events of the trip!
#1 Behind our camp site were more cliffs and trails. This was the kids favorite place to go! By the second day we had explored all over the trails, soooo the Twins started making their own trails...Straight up the cliffs!!! I was helping Lydia as Ryan followed the boys around a corner and realized they were climbing up, up, up! When I looked around to find them they were on top of a 4 story cliff. It only had one access to get up it and the boys found it. All other sides were straight down! Ryan helped them climb back down, all with Ethan in the backpack. I met them half way up to help. (all while praying for LOTS of Angles to help us)! The boys never realized the danger they were in, but Ryan and I were very scared, but calm.
#2 We found the fossilized oysters in Hanksville and let the kids gather a few. When we got back to the van, Ryan realized that the keys had fallen through a hole in his pocket. We both took a turn looking for them, and then I went back one more time. Our prayers were answered again when I found the keys next to the edge of the cliff. :)
On the way home we drove through Capital Ref National Park. The views were amazing! The kids ask everyday if we can go to the desert again. :) I think we had a successful family vacation!

you are very brave! I would have taken one look at those ledges and probably been ready to head back home=) I have issues with not having a fence in my yard...Scary place to lose keys!! I've locked mine in the car so many times Ryan finally found a secret place on the outside to secure a spare=)
That looks like so much fun! And I'm sure your kids just loved it! I'm very glad you all made it home without injuries :)!
Sounds like a fun vacation! Goblin Valley is really cool and a place that kids would love, although I bet you had to keep an eye on them! There are lots of little places to hide or get lost there.
